Surprise! Good health is not about the weight you lose but the the type of life you can gain from it. I started my journey to weight loss in February of 2018 and it was not an easy task. I wanted to quit, give up and throw in the towel all together because I was 238 lbs, a size 16 still trying to fit in size 14 clothes and my confidence in myself told everyone I was secure in me. The only problem was that I was actually very insecure about how much weight i'd gained and I wanted to change but I couldn't stop eating the foods I knew was contributing to it.
One day I went to my neurology appointment and the doctor began to tell me if I didn't lose weight I would literally kill myself. I asked her was she serious and she said YES! You must lose weight because it is a contributing factor to your medical condition. So I left the hospital that day and reached out to a health coach i'd met a year prior and realized I was in such a bad way that I couldn't even afford to buy what was required to help me. At the time I was dating my now husband and he bought my very first package for me and it was at that point I decided to change my thought process and lifestyle.
So many people have illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes and my vice, Intracranial Hypertension that are shortening their life span with their friends and family. We have to understand that we must be healthy in our mind, body and spirit to meet our goals and that's what I call total wellness. When one is off it can ultimately affect how we use the other two. It's not going to be easy and if it was everyone would have a beach body but that's not the case. Change is going to become your best friend because that is where you will find your breakthrough. Changing your mindset by saying yes to healthier choices and no to junk. What you put in your body to fuel it is what your body will display. Feed it good healthy choices you will get good healthy results. I had to learn first hand but when I looked in the mirror I began to fall in love with myself all over again. You don't need a scale to tell you your losing weight or becoming healthier, trust your body by asking yourself:
1. How do you feel overall?
2. Do you have more energy?
3. How have you been sleeping?
4. have your levels decreased since your last visit to your doctor?
5. How does your clothes fit?
Theses were just a few things that I based my total health and wellness off of so that I wasn't counting numbers on the scale and being disappointed if it didn't move. Today I've loss 50 pounds, maintained a slim size 10-12, my posture is much better and my smile is genuine. I have not had any fluid build up in my head in a year and that is the true blessing of my story. You have the same power inside of you to turn your situation around to a story of good health over weight loss. Don't wait until its too late, start today because tomorrow is not promised to any of us. If you need help I would be glad to assist you in meeting your health and wellness goals.
